(Availability: In Stock)

Harper's Weekly (July 5, 1884) "The New Philadelphia City Hall". This wood engraving has several views of the new City Hall taken from drawnings by F.B. Schell; West Dome (top left), Court Yard (top right), Bird's eye view of City Hall (center), Looking Down Broad St. (lower left), West Philadelphia P.R.R. (lower center), and Statue of Gen. Reynolds (lower right).  Amoung the prints of philadelphia this is one of the best prints of this impressive structure (designed by John McArthur Jr., assisted by Thomas U. Walter), which still stands as a proud centerpiece for the city.  This engraving has been hand colored to bring out the fine details of the artist and engraver.

The cornerstone for this impressive structure was set on July 4, 1874 and finally opened in 1881-costing 25 million and was the world largest office building.
